How to Sign Up on Bitget: Registration and KYC, Step by Step (2026)
Disclosure: This guide contains my Bitget referral link. If you register through it and trade, I may earn a share of your trading fees from Bitget at no extra cost to you. I am not affiliated with Bitget beyond that, and this is not financial advice.
Opening a Bitget account takes two stages: creating the account, then verifying your identity (KYC). The first part takes a few minutes. The second needs a valid ID, a phone camera and a little care, because most rejections come from avoidable mistakes such as blurry photos or a name that does not match the document.
This guide follows Bitget’s own help centre articles, checked on 1 November 2026. Screens and wording change from time to time, so if something looks different, Bitget’s support centre is the final word.
Before you start: what you need
- Eligibility. Bitget’s Terms of Use require individual users to be at least 18 years old, and you may only hold one account. You must not be in a prohibited country (see the availability section below).
- An email address or mobile number. Bitget says you choose one at registration and can link the other later.
- A government-issued ID. Bitget’s KYC page lists a government-issued ID card, passport, driver’s licence or residence permit for Level 1 verification. Accepted types vary by country.
- A phone with a camera. Bitget recommends finishing the document and face steps on a mobile phone.
- An authenticator app (recommended) for two-factor authentication.
No documents are needed just to create the account. Bitget’s FAQ confirms that registration is free and that you sign up with an email or phone number only. Documents come in at the KYC stage.
Part 1: Create your Bitget account
These steps follow Bitget’s “How to Register a Bitget Account? - Website Guide”. The app flow is similar.
Step 1: Open the official sign-up page
Go to the official Bitget website or app and click Sign Up in the top-right corner. Bitget specifically tells users to check that the URL is correct to avoid phishing sites. If you want to use my referral code, you can start from this Bitget sign-up link; still check that the page you land on is a genuine Bitget page.
Step 2: Enter your details
- Choose Email or Mobile. For mobile, Bitget’s guide says to enter the number without the country code in the number field.
- Referral code (optional). If you have one, enter it now. Bitget’s registration guide only describes this field as part of sign-up, and I could not find an official exchange procedure for adding a code afterward. My code is YN888. For how codes and rewards work, read the Bitget referral code guide.
- Read the User Agreement and Privacy Policy, tick the box and click Next.
You can also register with Google, Telegram or a wallet using the buttons under the form.
Step 3: Set a strong password
Bitget’s password rules:
- 8 to 32 characters
- At least one number
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one special character
Use a password you do not use anywhere else. A password manager makes this easy.
Step 4: Solve the captcha and verify your contact
Click Next, solve the captcha puzzle, then enter the 6-digit verification code Bitget sends to your email or phone. Click Sign Up to finish.
If the code does not arrive, Bitget suggests checking your spam folder, confirming the email or number you entered, retrying, and submitting a support ticket if the problem continues.
Step 5: Turn on two-factor authentication
Log in, click your avatar in the top-right corner, open Security, and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Bitget lists this as recommended. I would treat it as essential: an exchange account with only a password is an easy target.
Part 2: Complete identity verification (KYC)
Bitget’s regulatory page says it mandates KYC for all users, as part of its anti-money-laundering and sanctions controls. Its KYC guide says completing individual verification enables deposits, withdrawals and trading.
The steps below follow “How to Complete KYC for My Bitget Account? - Website Guide” and the matching mobile app guide.
Step 1: Open Identity Verification
- Website: log in, click the profile icon in the top-right corner, choose Identity Verification, then click Verify under Individual Verification.
- App: tap Verify on the home screen, or open the account centre and tap Unverified.
Step 2: Choose your country and ID type
Select your Country/Region of Residence and the Issuing Country/Region of your document, then pick the ID type. Bitget notes that accepted ID types vary by country, so pick the country carefully.
Step 3: Enter your full legal name
Type your name exactly as it appears on your ID. Bitget’s example: if your full name is John Michael Doe, enter “John Michael” as the first name and “Doe” as the last name.
Step 4: Upload your document
On the website, Bitget shows a QR code that you scan with your phone to continue. Take photos that are clear, in colour and uncropped, with all four corners visible. Bitget’s KYC academy guide adds that passport users should photograph the data page, and that some ID types need the back as well as the front.
Step 5: Face verification
Follow the on-screen prompts, which may ask you to turn your head or blink. Bitget’s tips:
- Use a plain white background.
- Use good lighting and avoid backlighting.
- Do not wear hats, glasses or anything that covers your face.
- Keep your face centred in the frame.
Step 6: Submit and wait for review
Your status changes to Under Review. Bitget’s support guide says you will get an email when you are approved or if more information is needed, with processing typically taking 1 business day. Bitget’s KYC page says review usually takes from several minutes to an hour depending on country and document. If it takes longer than one business day, Bitget asks you to submit a ticket with your User ID (UID).
Why Bitget KYC gets rejected, and how to fix it
Bitget’s support article on common KYC rejection reasons lists these problems:
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Blurry, cropped or low-resolution images | Retake in good light; keep all four corners in the frame |
| Black-and-white or scanned copies | Upload colour photos of the original document |
| Expired or unsupported documents | Use a valid, unexpired ID type accepted for your country |
| Only one side of a two-sided ID | Upload every side or page requested |
| Details that do not match | Enter your name and details exactly as printed on the ID |
| Unsupported region or age | Confirm your region is supported and you are 18 or over |
If you are rejected, Bitget emails you the reason. Fix the issue and resubmit.
Two more points from Bitget’s Terms of Use: you must not buy or sell KYC information, and you must not open more than one individual account. Bitget says it can suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
After verification: sensible first steps
Once your account is verified:
- Review your security settings. Keep 2FA on, and check the login history from time to time.
- Read the fee schedule before your first trade. Spot and futures fees differ, and withdrawal fees depend on the coin and network. See Bitget fees explained.
- Start small. Make a small deposit and a small trade first, so you understand the process before you commit more.
- Check your referral tasks. If you registered with a referral code, the Referral section shows the tasks and deadlines that apply to your account. Do not trade more than you planned just to unlock a reward.
Regional availability
This site is written for readers in Australia and South Africa.
Prohibited countries. Bitget’s Terms of Use (last updated 20 October 2026) list Prohibited Countries including Austria, Belarus, Canada, Cuba, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, North Korea, Russia, Singapore, Sudan, the United States and its territories, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Lebanon, Somalia, South Sudan, Thailand, and parts of Ukraine (Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia). The Terms say you must not use a VPN to get around these restrictions, and KYC requires you to declare your country of residence.
Australia. Bitget lists a digital currency exchange provider registration with AUSTRAC (BTGT AUS PTY LTD on AUSTRAC’s register). This is an anti-money-laundering registration, not an Australian Financial Services licence. ASIC has issued an investor alert warning Australians about Bitget’s unlicensed crypto asset futures products. This site does not recommend Bitget futures to Australian readers.
South Africa. Bitget’s licence page lists an FSCA Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence and an Over-the-Counter Derivatives Provider (ODP) licence. Bitget’s Stock+ FAQ names Parsa Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, FSP 52563, as the FSCA-licensed entity for that service. You can check any provider on the FSCA’s public register.
Risk warning
Buying and trading crypto carries a high risk of loss, including the loss of everything you deposit. Prices can move sharply in minutes. Leveraged products such as futures, and copy trading, can magnify losses. Verifying your account does not protect your funds from market risk. This guide is general information, not financial, tax or legal advice.
